To raise further awareness on the UN sustainability goals on education and gender equality, SWEP International pleads support to the International Day of Charity on September 5th, contributing with school packages that will provide 300 girls with basic school supplies in a UN selected area of need.
International Day of Charity
International Day of Charity on September 5th commemorates the life-long commitment to charity work by Mother Teresa. Since 2011, this has become an international day to continue to raise awareness on poverty and the social and cultural barriers to prosperity and equality that comes with poverty.
SWEP is a global company with 5 production sites and offices in 20 countries, employing more than 1.100 people around the world. On a global scale, the female ratio of SWEP employees is around 27% and out of the total professional skilled workforce at SWEP, nearly 40% are women. The 300 school packages pledged by SWEP is therefore not a random number, but a symbol of the total female workforce employed at SWEP.
Our framework for Environmental, Social and Governance goals
As part of the United Nations 2030 Agenda on Sustainability, SWEP has a framework for Environmental, Social and Governance goals (ESG) and seven committed sustainability goals; including Quality Education and Gender Equality. In the words of Ulrika Nordqvist, SWEP CEO:
“Supporting employees with professional development and learning opportunities and actively promoting gender equality through recruitment and training initiatives, is a commitment close to heart and requiring daily actions and ongoing initiatives”.

Undoubtedly, education and lifelong learning opportunities is a main enabler for escaping poverty.
